Trail Description

Bansha wood is a very large woodland by Irish standards. Once part of the Moore estate there are many references to Moor in the area (also spelt Moore). Moors Rock and Moor abbey to name a few. The wood contains the site of a penal church west of Slievenamuck. Ballagh fort and the ruin of Aherlow Castle. Kinsale House is now a luxury hotel, this fine regency house is surrounded by 130 ha of parkland.
