Deputys pass (from Glenealy).

Looped walk | 7.45 km | | Easy walk

Trail Description

A lovely walk at any time of the year - but especially in the autumn. Park opposite the pub in Glenealy and cross the road. There is a laneway beside the car repair place which narrows until a footbridge is reached over the railway line. Turn right after the bridge and follow the road up. After a few turns you will see a coillte forest barrier on your right - follow this forest road until the end - at the end you will notice a ditch and such to your left, cross this onto an old unpaved farm road. Turn right at the road and head south until you arrive at the Deputys pass reserve. Once here you can turn left or right to follow the circular route through the reserve before retracing your route back to Glenealy. Facilities. 1. Handily placed as you can end your walk at a pub (for a drink) but the pub appears to open only at irregular hours so will most like be closed. 2. There is a local shop/post office further a little up the street (heading west) from the parking spot.
