Trail Description

This Trail begins at Portlaw Heritage Centre, Malcomson square in the historic model industrial village of Portlaw, County Waterford. This looped walk is partly street walking to Saint Patricks Church where you enter the Portlaw woods, SAC (Special Area of Conservation), which leads to the 8th century monastic Church of Kilbunny. Kilbunny Church, named after Saint Munna, is known for its fine example of an 11th century Romanesque doorway. Further along the route there is the Coolfin marshes, a significant wetland area in County Waterford, which has protected SAC and NHA (Natural Heritage Area)recognition.
