Kilmichael coastal trek

Looped walk | 19.74 km | | Moderate walk

Trail Description

Mainly tarmac walking but these roads are very quiet country ones with little traffic and lined with mature hedgerows and trees. There is an old "Jessops" public water pump near the car park at Clogga which still works but I am not sure if the water is drinkable (update - as of summer 2013 this pump is no longer working). Highlights of the walk are St Ibars church, Toberpatrick holy well, kilgorman cross and graveyard, clone stand, Kilpatrick nature reserve and Kilmichael point with its heather, old ruins and small sea cliffs. Note - there is a small shop at clone strand/purcells holiday park selling ices, sweets, drinks and hot food - but it may only be open on weekends and during the summer - otherwise the nearest shop is at Tara hill.
