Trail Description

Leave carpark following river - going upstream, follow main trail around until you are looking back down on the carpark. The return route is a narrow trail that will rejoin the trail just at the sharp bend (runs parallel to the N11) Continue to follow the trail up to the Octogon, here you can follow this trail down, it is though narrow and steep or just double back. Views are worthwhile though. Entry to car park is from South-bound N11 just after 80kph zone, very easy to miss, take care when exiting - road heavily used by cyclist so please be careful. Car park also has picnic tables and a river - so nice place to relax before/after walk. Quite a few routes in this wood.

Trail Comments

Any idea if there is any access that doesn't involve the car park? I can't find any using the maps... I want to walk from Greystones...

Yes - you can access the glen of the downs from the Ballydonagh lane (there is even space for about 10 cars to park here). This access point is also much closer to the octogon. It is also possible to walk from Greystones to Ballydonagh lane.
